How To Download Files
Help Downloading Software
Downloading is the process of copying a file from a web server or computer to your computer. The file can be a piece of software, a music file (.mp3), a document, etc. You are simply copying one file to your computer for your use.
Downloading Files
When you go to the location of the file you want to download (usually given on a website or in an email, etc.), you are presented with an alert box similar to:

The filename tells you the file you are downloading, the file type tells you what type of file it is you are downloading (.exe is an application or software),
From: tells you the website you are downloading from, and you are asked if you want to open the file or save the file or cancel the file download.
If you change your mind and do not wish to download the file, just click the cancel button. If you decide to download the file, it is recommended you save the file to your desktop so you can scan it for viruses before installing the application.
Click ‘Save’ and then you are asked where on your computer you would like to download the file to. Save it to your desktop (just click the desktop icon on the left side of the box),

Once the file has completed downloading, you will get this notice box:

Now that the file has completed its download, run a virus scan on the file. Depending on which anti-virus program you have running, you should be able to right click on the file and click ‘Scan With AVG’ or whichever anti-virus program you have. If you don’t have that option, first go through your anti-virus software FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page to find out how you can scan a single file.
Once you have scanned the file and no viruses are found (if there are trojans or viruses found, DO NOT install or open the file – simply delete the file to your trash bin), install or run the file by double clicking it and just follow the directions.
