How To Open PDF Files
Help Downloading and Reading PDF Files
PDF files are the most common and accessible ebook format on the net. Adobe’s Portable Document Format (pdf) is mainly used to distribute files on the internet or across a network. Files with a .pdf extension have been created in another application such as Word Perfect and even HTML, then translated into .pdf files so they can be viewed by anyone. PDF files are independant of the original software (used to create the document/file), hardware or operating system.
To read PDF files, you will need a PDF reader. Adobe offers their free reader here: Adobe Reader Download
Once you have the reader installed, you will be able to read pdf files such as ebooks and reports. When you find a pdf file you want to download, you have two options or methods to save the file.
Option #1:
- Right click on the link that holds the pdf file
- Choose ‘Save Target As’
- Select the location (such as your desktop)
- Click Save
Option #2
- Click the link that holds the pdf file
- Allow your pdf reader software to load (such as Adobe)
- Once the reader has opened the file in your web browser, you will see the reader’s toolbar across the top. There should be: Save, Print, Email, Etc. with their respective icons displayed.
- Click the Disk Icon (Save)
- Choose location (such as your desktop)
- Click Save
Option #2 enables you to preview the pdf file first in your web browser before saving it to your computer. If you’re not sure you are interested or have a need for the ebook or file, this method of saving pdf files is handy.
