Sending An Email To More Than One Address

Hiding Email Addresses

Most of us have received emails that are sent to a big list of people. Notice that you can read and swipe all the email addresses listed in the To: line. This is one way that spammers can collect and find your email address. This also exposes private email addresses to everyone. It’s just not professional or sensitive to everyone’s privacy. Here’s how you can send emails to a big list of people – without everyone seeing the email addresses:

Bcc: Field

Everyone in the Bcc field will receive a copy of the email, but nobody except you and the bcc: recipient will know that they got a copy. Their email address remains private. To use this feature:

Compose email
In the To: field type the word – List – followed by your email address in <> braces
The To: field now looks like:
List <youremailaddress@address.com>
In the Bcc: field, enter all the email addresses you want to send the email to separated by commas or semi-colons (depending on your email client, but commas normally default)
Then send the email

Try this by sending it to yourself as well at a different email address. You will notice the To: entry will read as List and the list of emails addresses it was sent to doesn’t show at all.

Sidenote:

Rather than using ‘List’ in the To: field, you can use anything you like such as Group, Private, Joke List, etc.

Finding Bcc Tip:

Some email clients only show the To: and the Cc: Fields. Try clicking the Cc: (right on the letters Cc:) and you should be able to gain access to the Bcc: option that way. Simply add one address by this method and click ok. When you return to your email being composed, you’ll notice the Bcc: Field. Now you can add the rest of the group email addresses.

This technique will help prevent breach of privacy issues and also respect everyone’s address. Please try remembering to use this method and help spread the word to your friends and co-workers to try using this, you can even choose to send them a link to this page. It will not only help keep all our email addresses out of the hands of spammers, but it also respects each others privacy.
